Handgun Basic Familiarization & Development

Basic Handgun Familiarization & Development Course

This course is designed for the female with minimal or no handgun experience.  It is also an excellent review of handgun basics for the novice shooter.  The focus of this training will be giving the student a better understanding and ability in the operation and functioning of the handgun.  Even the experienced handgun owner/operator would find this session educational and worth the time spent at it.

During the first half of this session, the student will be given instruction in the operation and functioning of both the revolver and semi-auto handgun.  The student will understand how to secure and render a weapon safe, unload and load a magazine or cylinder.  Work on proper stance and shooting positions.  We will review selecting a holster for specific shooting requirements and needs.   The student will also go over the proper cleaning procedures for their specific weapon.

We will discuss home safety and security of the weapon.  We will review and discuss the basic safety rules of safe gun handling.  We will also review Minnesota State Statutes that pertain to private weapon ownership.

On the range, the student will focus on the fundamentals of weapon functionality and safe handling practices.    We will continue with developing basic handgun skills and move into live fire drills that build on foundation that we have established earlier in the session.

Class size will be limited—to make sure that each student is given personal attention to assist them in the development of their skills--Apply earlier!
